Lily is a treasure, and I just updated my review because I read that she is currently in the hospital. I think it's just as important for those not directly impacted by it to share that information with their children.

She found it easier to talk when she had grandchildren; and in addition society became more interested in hearing from Holocaust survivors in the years after the Eichmann trial in 1961 had allowed survivors for the first time to recount their experiences to a public willing more now to listen than they had been in the immediate post-war years. Stories of victims trading food for the Torah, or still finding time for regular prayer show us that many people demonstrated immense resilience and determination to keep going, in spite of all the darkness they faced. I've heard this before, and also that it is so important to the Jewish Community to bear witness to these testimonies.I assured her that the messages won't be lost because non Jewish people share it with their children. The accuracy of dates and facts in her book about her time in the Nazi Concentration and Extermination Camp of Auschwitz-Birkenau contributes to the chorus of voices thanks to which we can get closer to the human experience in a world of utter dehumanisation.

Your Grandson is a wonderful person who deserves the highest praise for encouraging and supporting you to tell your story and then find so many answers for you.
